F1Tenth Power Board
Completed in 2026 at the age of 20
Overview
The power board was designed to simplify the footprint of the electronics on the car. It is the central hub for power taking in the 3S battery, using a mosfet and a switch to have a no spark power switch. Using wide exposed traces the board was designed to feed power to the VESC and then distribute battery power to the 12V regulator which powers the Intel NUC/Nvidia Jetson and the LiDAR.
The battery also feeds the 5V regulator which powers an onboard ESP32 MINI which is used to get data from the VESC, monitor power and current and store that data onto an onboard SD card for logging while also sending that data over serial to the Intel NUC/Jetson. The 5V regulator also powers the steering servo motor and relays the servo commands from the VESC so simplify wiring.
The board also features a controllable 7-seg display and an onboard LED with a breakout connector for an additional LED which will be mounted on the car to indicate the cars current racing mode. The board also features a power led and additional GPIO pins for future feature additions.
